06/20/2008 · Titans off to good start at Eastmont
The Titans opened pool play in the Eastmont Classic tonight with a resounding 10-0 victory over the Kennewick Tournament Team.
Turner Glenn and Drew McLaurin combined for a masterful 2 hit shutout. Defensively, the Titans turned 2 spectacular double plays in the field, and Zach Cokos threw 2 runners out stealing. The few baserunners that Kennewick had (4) were all victims of stellar defensive work. 15 out of 16 Kennewick batters were retired by the Titans tonight, including the first 14 in succession.
Hits were at a premium today, as the bats were cool coming off of a 3 week layoff. The offense did manage to manufacture runs when they needed to, capitalizing on errors, drops, and using their aggressive baserunning skills to keep Kennewick off balance all game long.
The Titans face a tough North Seattle team on Saturday morning, with a matchup agains Puyallup in the late afternoon. They'll need to get their bats warmed up to keep the win streak alive!
